The eight quarterfinalists are set. Five Bundesliga and three 2. Bundesliga teams will remain in the drawing procedure. The next round is played on December 15.
Bundesliga v Bundesliga
SC Bad Neuenahr v Turbine Potsdam 0:1 (0:1)
Turbine is longing for the winter break with all their injured players. After being eliminated in the Champions League they at least survived in the cup competition. Keelin Winters marked the lonely goal after half an hour.
FCR Duisburg v VfL Wolfsburg 1:8 (1:4)
Things are changing in German women’s football, maybe even until last year Duisburg would have entered this game as favorite. Today they were smashed by what’s certainly the best team in Germany right now. Martina Müller, Nadine Kessler and Conny Pohlers cared for a safe 3-0 lead after half an hour before Nicole Banecki scored for Duisburg. Alex Popp had an answer right away and got the three goal lead again. In period two, Zsanett Jakabfi Müller, Pohlers and Lina Magull increased the score.
Bundesliga v 2. Bundesliga
1.FC Köln v SC Freiburg 0:1 (0:1)
The top ranked 2. Bundesliga South team from Cologne delivered a hard battle but Fiona O’Sullivan marked the golden goal after 24 minutes for the Bundesliga site.
Werder Bremen v FF USV Jena 1:4 (0:2)
The Bundesliga site had little trouble with Bremen. Caroline Schiewe with a penalty kick and Louisa Lagaris scored before the break. Daniela Schacher’s goal in minute 50 returned the hope to the 2. Bundesliga team but this just lasted 15 minutes until Kathleen Radtke scored. Sabrina Schmutzler added for the final score.
SV Meppen v FC Bayern München 0:4 (0:2)
An unjustified penalty kick got Munich on track already after 11 minutes. Still Bayern controlled the match, Vanessa Bürki added the second strike right before halftime. In period two Sarah Hagen and Isabell Bachor increased the score.
2. Bundesliga v 2. Bundesliga
TSG Hoffenheim v Lokomotive Leipzig 3:1 (0:0)
A more than familiar name appeared in the lineup as well as on the scoring sheet as nobody less than Birgit Prinz marked the game winner for Hoffenheim. Prinz does an internship with the club and appeared in her second cup game for the team. Christine Schneider got her team on track after the break before Prinz added the second goal. Angelina Lübcke made the game closer five minutes before the end, but Annika Eberhardt quickly ended the hopes of the visitors.
TSV Crailsheim v Herforder SV 1:5 (0:2)
In the north v south battles of 2. Bundesliga, Herford is the only survivor of the northern group. Giustina Ronzetti and Lena Schulte scored in minute 38 and 39 to give their team a comfortable half time lead. Jasmin Klotz got Crailsheim on the scoreboard before Anna Laue decided the game with a hat trick within just eight minutes.
BV Cloppenburg v SC Sand 2:3 SO, (2:2 OT, 1:1, 0:1)
The thriller of the day was played in Cloppenburg. Christine Veth marked the lead for the visitors shortly before halftime. In period two, Cloppenburg tied the match and sent it into overtime. It was again Veth who marked the lead for Sand but a deflected shot by Agnieszka Winczo tied with two minutes left on the clock took the match into a penalty shootout. This even topped the thriller as 12 shots were necessary for just five successful attempts. Hero of the day was Sand’s goalkeeper Marisa Brunner who saved four penalty kicks after already delivering a stunning match before; also Cloppenburg’s number one Domenika Wylezek saved three penalties.
