Tiffany Weimer, who played both in Women’s Professional Soccer, and later in Damallsvenskan in Sweden last year, signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the W-League.
“I’m very honored to be joining the Whitecaps organization. There are a lot of exciting things going on in Vancouver, and I’m anxious to get up there and be a part of it,” Weimer said. “I’m really looking forward to working with Coach (Hubert) Busby and the quest to win the W-League for 2011.”
Last season, the Whitecaps finished the regular season unbeaten with six wins and four draws. They then beat Pali Blues in the W-League Western Conference playoff final before beating top-seed Hudson Valley Quick Strike in the W-League semifinals. The Whitecaps lost, 3-1, to the Buffalo Flash (now the WNY Flash of WPS) in the W-League finals.
“Tiffany brings tremendous technical qualities to our team,” Busby said. “She’s a dynamic player that will excite our soccer savvy fans. She will also play a key role in our continued goal to raise the profile of our women’s team and club.”
Weimer played in WPS in 2009 (FC Gold Pride) and 2010 (Boston Breakers), and she joined AIK for the second half of the 2010 Damallsvenskan season. She scored four goals for AIK.
