Sights: Paris Saint-Germain Stuns VfL Wolfsburg in UWCL

Paris Saint-Germain took a controlling lead over defending champions VfL Wolfsburg with a 2-0 win in the first leg of one of the semifinal matchups of the 2015 UEFA Women’s Champions League competition at AOK-Stadion in Wolfsburg.

The visitors were on the board within the first 15 minutes after Sabrina Delannoy converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute. Shirley Cruz added another in the 26th minute.

Substitute Kheira Hamraoui was shown a late red card in the match.

It was Martina Müller’s last home match for Wolfsburg after she announced her retirement in April 2015. The German forward has more than 100 caps for her home country and was part of Germany’s 2003 and 2007 World Cup-winning teams as well as a member of the 2011 World Cup squad. In 2013, Müller was awarded the German Women’s Footballer of the Year award. She has played for Wolfsburg for 10 years, winning the treble with the club in 2013.

Wolfsburg, winners of the past two titles, is without Nadine Keßler and Lena Goeßling through injuries and will have its work cut out for it in the return leg on Sunday, April 26, at Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris.
