The Boston Breakers improved to 2-1-0 after defeating the Seattle Reign FC, 3-0, at Jordan Field. It’s the second win a row for the Breakers, a team coming off a 3-15-2 season in 2016. The Seattle Reign move to 1-1-1 in week three of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.
Adriana Leon put the Breakers on the score board in the 11th minute. Natasha Dowie sent in a cross from the right that hit defender Merritt Mathias. Leon took the deflected ball, dribbled around Seattle’s defenders, and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer.

Seattle opened up the half with more urgency and pressed Boston. Abby Smith made an early second-half save to keep the score at 2-0. Smith would have six saves on the night and added another shutout to her stat sheet this season.
Boston scored in the 52nd minute off a Dowie volley. Leon was involved yet again, with a flick over the top that found Dowie, who beat Kopmeyer far post with a screamer of a shot.
