Winter has arrived in Germany and forced four of six games to be postponed. Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg won their games.
FSV Gütersloh v VfL Wolfsburg 0:3 (0:1)
Heated turf is the reason why this game could be played today. Unlike in the 0-10 clash a few weeks ago, Gütersloh defended better today. Alex Popp scored just before halftime to relieve the top ranked visitors. In period two, Conny Pohlers and Martina Müller cared for the final win.
FC Bayern München v SC Bad Neuenahr 2:1 (0:1)
After defeating top teams back to back, this was a hard task for Bayern Munich. Especially when Liverpool bound Nicole Rolser scored the lead for the visitors it was known that the defensively compact road team would be hard to overcome. With a quarter hour left on the clock it was Victoria Schnaderbeck to tie the match. Leena Lotzen then scored the winner.
Situation: while Essen v Duisburg already is re-arranged for next Sunday there will be no chance for the other games as a cup weekend is on schedule and at least one of the teams still is in competition (see below). Due to the cancellations, the standings – which were just made even – are uneven now again. The four teams that played today are at 12 games, all others at 11.
Wolfsburg is on top with 29 points, followed by Potsdam at 25 on the Champions League spot. Frankfurt trails with 22 and Munich moved to the fourth spot at 21 points, ahead of Freiburg with 20. Essen sits on 6th with 15 pts, followed by Bad Neuenahr and Jena with 14. Rank 9 goes to Duisburg at 11 points ahead of Leverkusen with 10. Relegation spots go to newly promoted Gütersloh and Sindelfingen at 7, respectively 4 points.
As mentioned, the cup competition will continue next weekend with the quarter finals. Five Bundesliga and three 2. Bundesliga teams survived and those are the matchups:
Bundesliga v Bundesliga
VfL Wolfsburg v FF USV Jena
Bundesliga v 2. Bundesliga
TSG Hoffenheim v FC Bayern München
SC Freiburg v Herforder SV
SC Sand v 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam
