On Thursday, the San Diego SeaLions of the WPSL Pacific Conference announced the signing of former FC Gold Pride (WPS) midfielder Rosie Tantillo. Tantillo joins the SeaLions after helping lead her former club to the WPS Championship in 2010. Tantillo has also gained experience playing for the Pali Blues and Buffalo Flash in the W-League along with the U-21 and U-23 Women’s National Teams.
A native of San Diego, Tantillo said in today’s WPSL press release today that she is, “really looking forward to playing with the SeaLions. I have never had the chance to play in San Diego where I was born and raised, outside of club soccer. Now it will be easy for my family and friends to come watch and support me.” Tantillo also remarked that she “want(s) to help the SeaLions get to the playoffs, make it to the (WPSL National Championship) and then win the whole thing.”
Tantillo and the SeaLions will face their first test this weekend when the team travels north to face 2010 Pac-North Division runner-up North Bay F.C Wave on Saturday and newly established Bay Area Breeze on Sunday in Dublin, California.
