For the third straight week, a member of the Western New York Flash earned WPS Player of the Week honors. This week, it went to forward McCall Zerboni, who scored two goals in a 3-2 win over the Boston Breakers last Friday night. Her goal in the 69th minute proved to be the game-winner for the Flash, who remained in first place in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS).
The goals were Zerboni’s first-ever in WPS. She played last year for the Atlanta Beat and the year before for the Los Angeles Sol. The 24-year-old now has two goals and four assists in her three-year WPS career.
Last week, WNY Flash forward Marta won WPS Player of the Week, and the week prior, the award went to Flash forward Christine Sinclair.
