The Pakistani Women’s National Team used to find itself grouped with countries like Singapore, Moldova, Guam, Bermuda, Kenya, Syria, and St. Lucia in FIFA’s provisional rankings. This week, FIFA officially included Pakistan in its official Women’s World Rankings. In order to enter the rankings, Pakistan had to play a minimum of five ranked teams, which it did at the South Asian Championships in February, a tournament that featured Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka (all ranked teams).
Currently, Pakistan is ranked 121st of the 126 teams in the official FIFA Women’s World Rankings. The teams behind Pakistan are Dominica, Tanzania, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Botswana. The next FIFA rankings come out July 22, 2011.
