Now there are only two games left to play, and still neither Potsdam nor Frankfurt are showing any weaknesses. Both teams dominated their games and won very evidently. On the bottom end of the standings, Herforder SV now is without a mathematical chance to stay in the league. Turbine Potsdam had a home game against struggling 1.FC Saarbrücken. Two goals before halftime led the way, and after the break they demolished their relegation endangered opponent. Japanese international Yuki Nagasato scored a hat trick within 22 minutes. Final score was 7-0.
Chasing 1.FFC Frankfurt came out with a similar result against SG Essen-Schönebeck. As so often lately, Frankfurt had problems scoring the first goal. Directly after the second half was started, Dszenifer Maroszan opened the scoring. Saskia Bartusiak immediately added a second. Essen’s resistance was vanishing, and so Frankfurt paced away to a 6-0 win.
FCR Duisburg won their third straight game, now with a new coach on the bench. The final scored was 2-1 against VfL Wolfsburg. Both goals were scored by Alex Popp. Wolfsburg’s goal by Selina Wagner with seven minutes left on the clock was too late.
Bayern Munich suffered a surprise demolishing by Hamburger SV. With an early goal by Sylvie Bancki, Bayern had a start as a team wants it. After 33 minutes, Bayern was cut to 10 players when Clara Schöne was ejected after a foul as last player. Munich rescued the lead into the locker room, but Aferdita Kameraj equalized short after the break. Kim Kulig added a pair shortly afterwards. Hamburg won, 4-1, and that result should secure them a spot in the top half of the standings.
Two decisions were dropped in the encounter of Herforder SV and Bayer Leverkusen. Both teams got promoted before this season. Herford is going down to 2. Bundesliga while Leverkusen avoided relegation with this win. Bayer paced to a 2-0 lead until the middle of the first half, but Herford tied it with nine minutes left on the clock. A last-minute goal by Feride Bakir led to the final decision on matchday 20.
SC Bad Neuenahr helped Saarbrücken and Essen in the relegation fight by defeating FF USV Jena, 2-1. The road team even scored the lead in the first half, but Peggy Kuznik and Celia Okoyino da Mbabi turned it around for Bad Neuenahr.
Next Sunday will be an off week, except for the makeup game between Herford and Jena. Despite being relegated, Herford will now play an important role in the relegation battle since they will play against Essen in the week after.
