Thor/KA of Úrvalsdeild, the top flight women’s league in Iceland, announced today the signings of midfielders Manya Makoski and Marisha Schumacher-Hodge. Makoski played in 2009 for the Los Angeles Sol of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) and last year was a member of the Atlanta Beat. Schumacher-Hodge spent the first month and a half of the season with the Atlanta Beat last year before going to Finland to play for Kokkolan Palloveikot (KPV).
With the Sol in 2009, Makoski played in 17 games (15 starts). The 26-year-old scored 24 goals with Arizona State University (2002-05). Makoski also played with the New Jersey Wildcats of the W-League from 2004-06, and with SoccerPlus CT of the WPSL and the Pali Blues (W-League) in 2008. Schumacher-Hodge, a 2008 Boston University graduate, played in and started five games for KPV this past season, picking up one assist. In 2009, Schumacher-Hodge started all eight games that she played for Ragsveds IF in Sweden. She finished with one goal and five assists. She had 13 goals and 14 assists in four years at Boston University.
