In our December 2010 issue, Manya Makoski wrote about the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and their trip to Honduras. Makoski, some of her Atlanta Beat teammates, and eight college soccer players went to Catacamas, Olancho, Honduras to teach the game of soccer and to change the lives of the girls and women in Catacamas. FCA Missions has decided to serve the Catacamas Women’s Soccer League with the opportunity to play, compete, and establish four sports teams. The FCA Missions (Jan. 29-Feb. 5) will teach, train, and hold a city-wide female soccer camp for the city of Catacamas. While in Honduras, FCA will also spend part of each day serving in a local village outside Catacamas in the houses for families whose weekly income is around $50. FCA Missions will help families that have no running water in their homes; most do not have electricity. Upon FCA Missions’ arrival this past October, all the villages/church participants received rice, beans, and a large amount of groceries for the winter months.
