The Houston Dash announced it has acquired the rights to forward Chioma Ubogagu from Sky Blue FC in exchange for the No. 36 overall pick in the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft and Sky Blue’s natural third-round selection in the 2017 NWSL College Draft.
In 2015, Ubogagu opted out of joining the NWSL and signed for Arsenal Ladies in the FA Women’s Super League in England, where she scored seven goals in 18 appearances.
The former Stanford standout was a member of the United States squad that won the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan. While at Stanford, Ubogagu was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and part of the 2011 national championship-winning team. In four years, Ubogagu scored 27 goals in 89 appearances and added in 37 assists.
